A vital part of being a manager or supervisor is dealing with difficult employee circumstances. At first glance, it would seem easier to ignore the situation in hopes the problem would disappear rather than putting forth the effort to resolve the issue at hand and get the employee back on track.

The Courage to Coach outlines a detailed four-step process for coaching that will work in any employee performance situation. It starts with a critical first step - call it like you see it. In addition, you will learn how to achieve an agreeable solution to the problem, develop a plan for resolving the problem and follow up with the employee.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives for this training video include the following topics:

  • Dealing with a problematic situation and getting a coaching conversation started.
  • Coaching an employee with an attitude problem.
  • Managing employees who don't take their manager seriously.
  • Asking someone with good performance to "crank it up" a notch.
  • Using documentation when an employee is not getting the conveyed message.

This training video is great to use for training on coaching, supervision/management skills and communication skills. It is also effective in performance appraisals and performance management.

Each employee will receive a participant's binder, which will include discussion questions and activities, as well as a self-study workbook to be used as a reference tool in the future.
