SHARON FERRARO HAS BEEN APPOINTED TREASURER FOR NEW FAIRFAX FUTURES FOUNDATION

Sharon Ferraro has accepted the appointment of Treasurer for the new Fairfax
Futures Foundation in Fairfax County. This new foundation will focus on the following:
- To raise public and private funding to support quality early learning experiences for young children
- To strengthen the knowledge, skills and abilities of the early childhood workforce to ensure they are professionally equipped to meet the educational needs of children in their care
- To increase public awareness of the importance of early childhood education and its significance for school readiness, and the County's current and future economic health
- To create public-private partnerships with education, business, philanthropic and the public sector to support a County-wide vision for early childhood excellence, resulting in high quality programs for our youngest children
- To make targeted investments in early learning programs based on research and a County-wide vision
Sharon was involved in the June 3 summit to introduce this foundation to the county.
Approximately 150 business and community leaders were in attendance, including Chairman
Gerald Connolly; Secretary of Education, Belle Wheelan; and Maurice Jones, State
Commissioner for Social Services.
